What we collect

The site has no accounts, forms that submit data, or advertising. The contact letter tool runs entirely in your browser; nothing you type is sent to us unless you choose to email it. When you email us, we receive your name, email address and the content of your message.

Our hosting provider may record standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested, time) for security and to keep the site running. These are retained for no longer than 30 days.

Why and on what basis

We process correspondence to reply to you, on the basis of our legitimate interest in answering readers. We process server logs on the basis of our legitimate interest in security. We do not sell or share personal data for marketing.

How long we keep it

Correspondence is kept for up to 24 months, then deleted, unless you ask us to delete it sooner. If we quote a letter in a column, we remove identifying details first.

Your rights

Under the UK GDPR you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data, object to processing, or ask us to restrict it. Write to the address above. You may also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
